Miguel wanted to work on a large scale looking for an expansive & gestural painterly language, but the series was also a search for the freedom & optimism that reality did not allow. The series also reflects Miguel's interest in colour, texture & materiality. The paint in these pieces is mixed with impasto medium & marble dust
